Interesting trailer. I’ve enjoyed Zack Snyder’s work, so I’ll be in the theater to see this one.

‘Ghostbusters 3′ Rumored to Begin Production in May 2011

via /Film

As far as we know, Ghostbusters 3 would still be based upon a script by The Office and Year One writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, with rewrites from Dan Aykroyd. Ivan Reitman would reportedly direct the returning crew of Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver, though until cameras are actually rolling I wouldn’t take any of that as set in stone.

Please, please, please be true. The idea of a third Ghostbusters film, has been around for years, but no one expected it to actually happen — especially with the original cast. The studio should do whatever it takes to make it happen. It will be a massive hit.

Ron Howard Keeping Controversial Gay Joke In ‘The Dilemma’

via /Film

Director Ron Howard is keeping the controversial joke that Universal removed from the trailer for his upcoming comedy The Dilemma, in the actual movie. Three weeks ago, CNN’s Anderson Cooper and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) spoke out against the joke in which a character, played by Vince Vaughn, called electric cars “gay.” “We’ve got to do something to make those words unacceptable ’cause those words are hurting kids,” Anderson said. Well, after much thought, Howard has come out on record saying the joke will remain in the movie and has given us a detailed explanation as to why.

Interesting read. It’s nice to see a Hollywood director, take the time to write a thoughtful piece. Most times we’re stuck with a 30 second sound bite.

‘Saw’ Sharpens with ”Final Chapter,” ‘Paranormal Activity’ Fades

Saw 3D notched an estimated $22.5 million on over 3,500 screens at 2,808 locations. Add in its Thursday night previews, and its gross came to $24.2 million. That improved upon the $14.1 million launch of the last movie, Saw VI, but it was a far cry from Saw II through Saw V, which averaged nearly $32 million (or over $37 million adjusted for ticket price inflation).

Saw 3D wins the weekend box office. Paranormal Activity 2 was second.
