I absolutely loved this film when it was released, but unfortunately not many people saw it. Like Office Space, it has become a cult classic, and a constant money-maker on home video.

I hope this gets made, but I have my doubts. Studios seem to be obsessed with making the next box office juggernaut, and are all but ignoring the “slow burn, word of mouth approach” that served them so well in the past.

Maybe they should change the title to “Zoolander 3-D” (that will probably get it on the fast track).

Director Ron Howard is keeping the controversial joke that Universal removed from the trailer for his upcoming comedy The Dilemma, in the actual movie. Three weeks ago, CNN’s Anderson Cooper and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) spoke out against the joke in which a character, played by Vince Vaughn, called electric cars “gay.” “We’ve got to do something to make those words unacceptable ’cause those words are hurting kids,” Anderson said. Well, after much thought, Howard has come out on record saying the joke will remain in the movie and has given us a detailed explanation as to why.

Interesting read. It’s nice to see a Hollywood director, take the time to write a thoughtful piece. Most times we’re stuck with a 30 second sound bite.

As we’ve reported on the quick pre-production and casting of Young Adult, written by Diablo Cody and to be directed by Jason Reitman, there has been no studio involved. But with those two behind the camera and Charlize Theron in as the lead, it didn’t take much to assume that someone would bite quickly. Now Paramount has bought rights to the film.
